This realistic fiction is a fun story about a family enjoying time together some family travels several hours to enjoy time together. The text simply explains what happens throughout the book and focuses on telling the story of when and how everything takes place. Personally, I found the pictures to be the best part of this book because they added a lot of personality to the book and helped develop the characters and the story. I did enjoy this book because there is a lot of potential for student to add in their own elements to the story about what they think they did in their spare time. I would consider having a writing activity with a 'missing page' in which the student could add in their own elements to the story. I would recommend this story for first or second grade--potentially third grade if there is a writing assignment based off the reading.
